Hello! Welcome to my website

Would you like to get your message across to a Norwegian audience?
Every language has its own rules and rhythms.
My job is to make your texts read, flow and feel
like a piece that was written in Norwegian in the first place.

Please feel free to get in touch, so that we can discuss your needs further.
If you keep scrolling, you can find out a little bit more about me.

A few facts
(in case you’re curious)

Following my Masters in translation at Middlesex University in London, I started working full time as an independent translator in 2007. Ever since I have been taking on a wide variety of texts on a daily basis – from inspirational travel blogs to eye-catching adverts and informative business correspondence.

I grew up among the mountains and fjords in Western Norway. After some years of studies and travelling, I moved to the UK with my husband in 2005, where we lived for about 10 years. We now live on the South Coast of Finland, with lovely sea views to inspire me as I walk the dog, sip some coffee, study Finnish, read and knit.

What I can do
for you

I translate from:

Swedish, Danish and English

I translate into:

Norwegian
(Bokmål and Nynorsk; the two written variations of Norwegian)

I trade under the name GooGaBu Oy (business registration number 2815390-6); a Limited Company in Finland that I run together with my husband, sports photographer Ville Vuorinen.

Some of my subject areas:

Spreading the word:
Marketing/advertising

Advertising campaigns, whether they are printed, online, or adapted to voice-overs for TV, all need slogans and appealing copy that works in the local market and takes specific cultural references into account. “Transcreation” means that the translator has more freedom to get creative and move away from the original text. This makes it easier to come up with something that really works in the target language, rather than sounding “translated”. This is so much more than translating a text word for word, and a really fun and rewarding process!

New horizons:
Tourism and travel

Inspirational travel blogs, informative travel guides, official tourism sites, advertising campaigns for certain regions, airlines, train companies… There is a whole world out there just waiting to be explored – and translated. To try and convey all the sights, sounds, smells, and impressions that make up a certain place on the map, is quite a journey to be a part of as a translator.

Fabulous fabrics:
Textile industry and interior decoration

I love the world of fashion, design and handicraft and trying to get across the feelings and moods that fabrics and textures can evoke. From interior design websites to knitting patterns – it is truly fascinating to dive into this world of tradition, innovation and beauty.
